The Ramsden Heath Golf Society Annual General Meeting Minutes 2018

1. Report of Treasurer
Terry Attew presented a breakdown of the society's accounts for 2017 and stated that the Society had made a profit of £62.12 during that period.
Account details have been sent directly to members via Email.
Terry stated that our account balance remained healthy and allowed for any unforeseen financial issues which could arise during 2018
2. Report of Secretary
The Secretary thanked all those present for taking time out to attend the meeting and to those members who sent their apologies for absence. He also thanked all members for making 2017 such a good year, particularly the high number of attendees for each golf day .He hoped that the new website www.rhgs.moonfruit.com was providing better information, and that the members continue to use it as the main source of Society activity. If you have difficulty accessing the site via Google, try another search engine, such asSafari , Bing or Mozilla Firefox.
3. Election of Officers
The meeting proposed and seconded elected Officers for 2018 as follows:
Chairman - Steve Pool
Captain - Steve Davies
Vice Captain - Dave Kitchens
Vice Vice Captain - Nic Abarno
Treasurer - Terry Attew
Secretary - Roy Chopping
Handicap Sec. - Chris Vander
Asst Handicap Sec. - Mike Taylor
The meeting thanked Chris Vander for all his efforts as Captain for 2017 and welcomed Steve Davies as the Incoming Captain for 2018
It was confirmed that the newly elected Vice Captain, Dave Kitchens, will become Captain in 2019. The meeting thanked Dave for agreeing to undertake this position. It was also proposed and agreed that a Vice Vice Captain should be elected to succeed the Vice Captain in 2019 to eventually become Captain in 2020. Nic Abarno has kindly put his name forward for this position. The meeting also thanked Alex Carroll, Mike Taylor and Chris Vander for their help and support during 2017.
4. Venues for 2018 Society Days
All the Venues for 2018 have been booked, an updated list of these venues can be found on the Website. Steve Davies stated that he would like his Captains Day to be held at Ipswich Golf Course on Wed 25th July 2018.
5. Membership Subscriptions
It was agreed by the meeting that subscriptions remain at £20 for 2018. The meeting thanked all those people who have already submitted their Subscriptions. All those who have not subscribed but still wish to be members should do so on or before the March Golf Day (Tue 27th March 2018 at Woodbridge GC).
6. Cost and Payment for Golf Days
It was stated by the Treasurer that the society will continue to subsidise the more expensive venues this season, but to balance out the costs involved, members will pay £60 at each venue, which includes the Ball sweep. Guests will pay £5 extra at each venue.
7. Handicaps
The following changes were put forward by Steve Davies:
1. Maximum handicap be increased to 36 to fall into line with new PGA rules
2. Winners will get a rounded up or down handicap of 20% reduction and Runner up 10%.
3. A score of 20 or less add 2 shots
4. A score of 21-25 add 1shot
5. All new members will start playing off an 18 handicap
6. Handicaps to be reset at the beginning of the season based on results achieved at previous October meeting.
If a player has a club Handicap then whichever is lower, RHGS or Club will be used.
Ramsden Heath Handicap not to exceed Club handicap for the season.
All these proposals were agreed by AGM attendees.
8 Trophies and Prizes
It was agreed that prizes will consist of bottles of wine. The main sponsored trophies are all engraved and up to date as of the December 2017 meeting, our thanks to Alex Carroll for once again looking after all the engraving requirements during the year.
9.Ryder Cup Event
The 13th Ryder Cup day has been arranged by RHGS and will take place at Stoke by Nayland Golf and Country Club on Wed 20th June 2018.
Currently the competition is all square with 6 wins apiece
10. Any other Business
1. The meeting thanked Linda for once again providing such a fine buffet for our AGM.
2.Steve also proposed that the Scoring system for POTY should be amended to allocate points to every player, on the day, as follows:
If 16 players involved, then 1st place receives 16 points, 2nd place receives 15 etc. down to last place receiving 1 point.
This should be applied to every game played, as it will give those members who attend more often, a better chance of becoming POTY, it was also agreed to take the best 6 scores from the 8 meetings.
This proposal was accepted, and Chris Vander and Mike Taylor agreed to update the POTY spreadsheets accordingly.
Steve also suggested Blobs of £1.00 per person. If a player has a blob free round then winner takes the pot. If more than one blob free round then kitty is shared. If no blob free round kitty goes to the society. This proposal was accepted.
