The Ramsden Heath Golf Society Annual General Meeting Minutes 2016

Date: Monday 8th February 2016

Venue: The Nags Head at Ramsden Heath

Time: 7.30 pm

1. Report of Treasurer

 

Terry Attew presented a breakdown of the society's accounts for 2015 and stated that the Society had made a loss of £375.27 during that period.

Please see Appendix 1 for account details.

 

Terry also stated that the 2016 Christmas golf day will be subsidised by the society as we did for our 2015 Christmas golf day

 

2. Report of Secretary

 

The Secretary thanked all those present for taking time out to attend the meeting and to those members who sent their apologies for absence. He also thanked all members for making 2015 such a good year with their continued support and attendance.

 

He also informed the meeting that we are having our website redesigned to enable

easier access and clearer information, which will no longer require opening up spreadsheets.

 

All members will be notified when the new website is available.

 

3. Election of Officers

 

The meeting proposed and seconded elected Officers for 2016 as follows:

 

Chairman - Steve Pool

Captain - John Colbear

Vice Captain - Chris Vander

Vice Vice Captain - Ken Bridges

Treasurer - Terry Attew

Secretary - Roy Chopping

Asst Sec. - Mike Taylor

Handicap Sec. - Chris Vander

 

 

The meeting thanked Dave Arnold for all his efforts as Captain for 2015

The meeting welcomed John Colbear as the Incoming Captain for 2016

It was confirmed that the newly elected Vice Captain, Chris Vander, will be elected Captain in 2017. The meeting thanked Chris for agreeing to undertake this position.

It was also proposed and agreed that a Vice Vice Captain should be elected to succeed the Vice Captain in 2017 to eventually become Captain in 2018. Ken Bridges has kindly put his name forward for this position.

 

The meeting also thanked Alex Carroll, Mike Taylor and Chris Vander for their help and support during 2015.

 

4. Venues for 2015 Society Days

 

All the Venues for 2016 have been booked, an updated list of these venues will accompany these minutes.

 

5. Membership Subscriptions

 

It was agreed by the meeting that subscriptions remain at £15 for 2016.

 

The meeting thanked all those people who have submitted their Subscriptions.

All those who have not subscribed but still wish to be members should do so on or before the March Golf Day (Thurs 17th March 2016 at Bishops Stortford GC).

 

6. Cost and Payment for Golf Days

 

It was stated by the Secretary that the society will continue to subsidise the more expensive venues this season so that the maximum members will pay will be £60, Guests will pay £5 extra at each venue.

 

 7. Trophies and Prizes

 

It was agreed by this year's captain (John Colbear) that prizes will again consist of bottles of wine.

 

This year we will only play 18 holes but the Captain will decide any additional competitions for Captain's Day:

 

The main sponsored trophies are all engraved and up to date as of the December 2015 meeting, our thanks to Alex Carroll for once again looking after all the engraving requirements during the year.

 

8. Ryder Cup Event

 

Our 11th Ryder Cup day has been arranged and will take place at Langdon Hills.

Currently RHGS and TPGS are all square (RHGS 5 Wins, TPGS 5 wins)

 

9. Any other Business

 

1. The meeting thanked Linda for once again providing such a fine

Buffet for our AGM.

 

2. It has been decided to have a Knockout Competition starting from our May 2016 meeting.Anyone who has not joined as a member after our April Meeting on 13th April 2016 will not be entered into the competition.

 

3. It was suggested that we purchase team shirts for our Ryder Cup event. John Colbear said he would make enquiries and get back with prices.

The colour of the Shirts to be decided.

 

4. It was generally decided that on each Golf day specific tasks be allocated as follows:

 

Treasurer – Collects money and issues raffle tickets

 

Captain – Picks the teams and collects the money from the Snake, Lizard etc. competition

 

Vice Captain – Completes Scorecards and co-ordinates with Captain on

                                    allocation of teams and Knockout draw

 

            Vice Vice Captain – Looks after the Raffle Draw
