1. Report of Treasurer
Terry Attew presented a breakdown of the society's accounts for 2014 and stated that the Society had made a profit of £855.28 during that period.
Please see Appendix 1 for account details.
Terry also stated that future Christmas Golf days will be subsidised by the society as follows:
For each Golf Day attended, by a member, during the year, £5 will be deducted from the Christmas meeting payment.
EG. If 8 meetings were attended during the year then £40 will be deducted from the payment.
Any Membership or Golf Day cheques must be made out to ‘The Ramsden Heath Golf Society’
2. Report of Secretary
Roy Chopping thanked all those present for taking time out to attend the meeting and to all members for making 2014 such a good year with their support and attendance.
3. Election of Officers
The meeting proposed and seconded elected Officers for 2015 as follows:
Chairman - Steve Pool
Captain - Dave Arnold
Vice Captain - John Colbear
Vice Vice Captain - Chris Vander
Treasurer - Terry Attew
Secretary - Roy Chopping
Asst Sec. - Mike Taylor
Handicap Sec. - Chris Vander
The meeting thanked Paul Guest for all his efforts as Stand-in Captain for 2014
The meeting welcomed Dave Arnold as the Incoming Captain for 2015
It was confirmed that the newly elected Vice Captain, John Colbear will be elected Captain in 2016. The meeting thanked John for agreeing to undertake this position.
It was also proposed and agreed that a Vice Vice Captain should be elected to succeed the Vice Captain in 2016 and eventually become Captain in 2017. Chris Vander has kindly put his name forward for this position.
The meeting also thanked Alex Carroll, Mike Taylor and Chris Vander for their help and support in during 2014.
4. Venues for 2015 Society Days
All the Venues for 2015, other than the Ryder Cup Venue, have been booked, an updated list of these venues can be found on our Ramsden Heath Golf Society Web Site www.rhgssite.co.uk, under the ‘Fixtures’ page.
5. Membership Subscriptions
It was agreed by the meeting that subscriptions remain at £15 for 2015.
It was also agreed that new members will have to pay an additional £5
Joining fee, which includes the purchase of the Society Tie.
The meeting thanked all those people who have submitted their Subscriptions.
All those who have not subscribed but still wish to be members should do so on or before the March Golf Day
(Wed 25th March at Woodbridge Golf Club).
6. Cost and Payment for Golf Days
It was stated by the Secretary that the society will continue to subsidise the more expensive venues this season so that the maximum members will pay will be £55, Guests will pay £5 extra at each venue. It was proposed and agreed by the meeting that for our 2016 season we should choose a premier Golf Club for one of our Golf Days, with a break even cost of around £75, with the Society subsidising where necessary.
It was agreed that everyone should look around for suitable venues.
7. Trophies and Prizes
It was agreed by this year's captain (Dave Arnold) that all prizes will now consist of bottles of wine. He has also requested that any remaining trophies be additionally presented as he sees fit during the year. The winner will still receive the relevant Sponsored trophy.
The Captain, will also choose the prizes for Captain's Day: Winner, Runner up, Nearest the Pin, Longest Drive, Guest Winner, and team event for the morning 9 Holes. The main sponsored trophies are all engraved and up to date as of the December 2014 meeting, our thanks to Alex Carroll for once again looking after all the engraving requirements during the year.
8. Ryder Cup Event
As at today 26th Jan 2015 our 10h Ryder Cup day has still to be arranged by Eddie Walker of TPGS.
As soon as we know all members will be informed and our Website updated
Currently RHGS are one competition ahead:
RHGS 5 Wins, TPGS 4 wins.
9. Any other Business
1. There will be a new scoring system for Player of the Year, whereby the first 6 players with the highest scores will be given points as follows:
Winner 6 pts, Runner up 5 pts down to 1 point for 6th Place. Same scores positions will be decided by Count Back.
2. The meeting thanked Linda for once again providing such a fine Buffet for our AGM.
3. TPGS have amended their handicap system, but our handicap system will remain unchanged. We will, however adjust our handicaps to fall in line with those of TPGS for the Ryder cup match.
