The Ramsden Heath Golf Society Annual General Meeting Minutes 2014

1.Report of Treasurer

 

Darren Rawlings is on holiday and has sent the accounts for 2013 as follows:

We had a profit of £121.81 for 2013 and have a balance of £2935.16 c/fwd to 2014

All Membership and Golf Day cheques must be made out to ‘The Ramsden Heath Golf Society’

 

2.Report of Secretary

 

Roy Chopping thanked all those present for taking time out to attend the meeting and to all members for making 2013 such a good year with their support and attendance.

 

3.Election of Officers

 

The meeting proposed and seconded elected Officers for 2014 as follows:

Chairman - Steve Pool

Captain - John Cremin

Vice Captain - Dave Arnold

Treasurer - Terry Attew

Secretary - Roy Chopping

Asst Sec. - Mike Taylor

Handicap Sec. - Chris Vander

 

The meeting thanked Paul Guest for all his efforts as Captain for 2013

The meeting welcomed John Cremin as the Incoming Captain for 2014

It was confirmed that the newly elected Vice Captain, Dave Arnold, will be elected Captain in 2015

 

Darren Rawlings has agreed to handover his role as RHGS treasurer due to work and family commitments, the meeting therefore thanked him for all his years and effort involved as treasurer. The meeting also thanked Mike Taylor and Chris Vander for their help and support in their roles during 2013.

 

4.Venues for 2014 Society Days

 

All the Venues for 2014 have been booked, an updated list of these venues can be found on our Ramsden Heath Golf Society Web Site www.rhgssite.co.uk, under the ‘Fixtures’ page.

 

5. Membership Subscriptions

 

It was agreed by the meeting that subscriptions remain at £15 for 2014.

It was also agreed that new members will have to pay an additional £5

Joining fee, which includes the purchase of the Society Tie.

 

The meeting thanked all those people who have submitted their Subscriptions.

All those who have not subscribed but still wish to be members should do so on or before the March Golf Day (Wed 19th March at Abridge Golf Club).

 

6. Cost and Payment for Golf Days

 

It was stated by the Secretary that the society will continue to subsidise the more expensive venues this season so that the maximum members will pay will be £55, Guests will pay £5 extra at each venue. We will continue with the Golf Ball Sweep.

It was also proposed and seconded that we extend the Snakes and Lizards to include Ducks (water) and frogs (O of B or Lost Ball).

Four Tokens displaying either a Snake, Lizard, Duck or Frog will be given to each team (4ball/3ball) on commencement of play and those players ending up possessing tokens will be fined £2 per token.

 

7. Trophies and Prizes

 

It was agreed by the meeting that the winners will continue to receive an individual trophy which the Society will purchase.

The winner will also receive the relevant Sponsored trophy.

 

The Captain, John Cremin, will be choosing the prizes for:

Runner up, Nearest the Pin, Longest Drive, Guest Winner, and team event for the morning 9 Holes of the 27 Hole Golf Days.

He will also be responsible for deciding any 9 Hole competitions during 2014. John Cremin and Phil Bird also volunteered to return Trophies previously won by them to help toward the cost and Variety of prizes, it was also suggested that we purchase a Mixture of Trophies for 2014.

The main sponsored trophies are all engraved and up to date as of the December 2013 meeting, our thanks to Alex Carroll for once again looking after all the engraving requirements during the year.

 

8. Ryder Cup Event

 

Our 9th Ryder Cup day has been arranged to take place once again at Warley Park

on WED 18th June 2014 and Ramsden Heath will be the hosts.

 

Both societies are on a level pegging, the results to date are:

RHGS 4 Wins, TPGS 4 wins.

 

9. Any other Business

 

1.The purchasing of Golf Balls for Prizes and Ball-sweeps will continue to be carried out by Alex Carroll

The meeting agreed that we purchase better Quality balls for 2014, but do not provide as many winners in the ballsweep.

 

2.The meeting thanked Linda for once again providing such a fine Buffet for our AGM.

 

3.Any ideas for competitions during the year, especially on the 27hole days, should be passed on to John Cremin.
