1. Report of Treasurer

 

Terry Attew presented a breakdown of the society's accounts for 2018 and stated that the Society had made a profit of GBP 672.41 during that period. Account details have been sent directly to members via Email.

 

Terry stated that our account balance remained healthy and allowed for any unforeseen financial issues which could arise during 2019

 

2. Report of Secretary

 

The Secretary thanked all those present for taking time out to attend the meeting and to those members who sent their apologies for absence. He also thanked all members for making 2018 such a good year, particularly the high number of attendees for each golf day .

 

He hoped that the new website www.rhgs.moonfruit.com was providing better information, and that the members continue to use it as the main source of Society activity.

3. Election of Officers

 

The meeting proposed and seconded elected Officers for 2019 as follows:

 

Chairman - Steve Pool

Captain - Dave Kitchens

Vice Captain - Nic Abarno

Vice Vice Captain - Gary Boyes

Treasurer - Terry Attew

Secretary - Roy Chopping

Handicap Sec. - Chris Vander

Asst Handicap Sec. - Mike Taylor

 

The meeting thanked Steve Davies for his efforts as Captain for 2018 and welcomed Dave Kitchens as the Incoming Captain for 2019

It was confirmed that the newly elected Vice Captain, Nic Abarno will become Captain in 2020.

The meeting thanked Dave and Nic for agreeing to undertake these positions.

 

It was also proposed and agreed that a Vice Vice Captain should be elected to succeed the Vice Captain in 2020 to eventually become Captain in 2021

 

Gary Boyes kindly put his name forward for this position.

 

The meeting also thanked Alex Carroll, Mike Taylor and Chris Vander for their help and support during 2018.

 

4. Venues for 2019 Society Days

 

All the Venues for 2019 have been booked, an updated list of these venues can be found on the Website.

Dave Kitchens stated that he would like his Captains Day to be held at Basildon Golf Course on Wed 24th July 2019.

 

5. Membership Subscriptions

 

It was agreed by the meeting that subscriptions remain at £20 for 2019.

 

The meeting thanked all those people who already submitted their Subscriptions.

 

All those who have not subscribed but still wish to be members should do so on or before the March Golf Day (Wed 20th March 2019 at Chigwall GC).

 

6. Cost and Payment for Golf Days

 

It was stated by the Treasurer that the society will continue to subsidise the more expensive venues this season, but to balance out the costs involved, members will pay £50 at each venue,

Guests will pay £5 extra at each venue.

 

7. Knockout Competition

 

It was agreed by the meeting, after some discussion, that due to the inconsistences in managing the results of the knockout competition it will be discontinued for 2019.

 

8. Handicaps

 

The changed handicap system proposed for 2018 was used very

successfully during the year and no new changes were proposed for 2019

 

9. Trophies and Prizes

 

The main sponsored trophies are all engraved and up to date as of the December 2018 meeting, our thanks to Alex Carroll for once again looking after all the engraving requirements during the year.

 

It was agreed by the meeting that the prizes for 2019 will be cash instead of wine.

 

The meeting also agreed that The Ball Sweep be discontinued for 2019.

 

10. Ryder Cup Event

 

The 14th Ryder Cup day has been arranged by TPGS and will take place at

The Shire Golf Club on Wed 19th June 2019 and will consist of only 18 holes.

 

Currently TPGS are one competition up with 7 wins to our 6.

 

11. AOB

 

1. The meeting thanked Linda for once again providing such a fine

Buffet for our AGM.
